My product staples – series 3 – the leave in and detanglers

This week I will be discussing leave ins and instant conditioners. I am really enjoying these posts so far I am going to try a milder shampoo and have tonnes loads of moisturising conditioners on my list (#productjunkie)

Leave in Conditioner

I use leave in conditioners after all my washes and for a boost of moist during the week. I have 2 leave in conditioners I use my favourite one is – Aussie Hair Insurance Miracle leave in conditioner – this is a light liquid which is amazing for moisture and detangling, it really does help when am deep in my stretch and start getting matting with my new growth.

I have also recently started using Herbal Essence Beautiful Ends leave in. This is a thicker creamier leave in and can be used as a moisturiser, I like using it for my roller sets in case I decide to finish off with some heat, it has cones that are great as heat protectants.

For a leave in am looking for something that is a great detangler and is moisturising.

Instant conditioners

I always make sure I have an instant conditioner in my product stash. I used them for co-wash, after tea rinses, as pre-poos, the list is endless. My fav instant conditioner is Herbal Essence Hello Hydrations – I have always loved this conditioner even before my hair journey, it really does hydrate the hair, this is my number one instant conditioner staples, with TREsemme Naturals rich moisturising conditioner close behind. TREsemme Naturals is an instant con I use most of, it has cones far down the list.

For an instant conditioner, am looking for something that is not stripping and gives me that needed quick boost of moisture.

These are my go to leave ins and instant conditioners, what are yours?

Happy Hair Journeys Ladies! :)

  1. Hi Yvonne! My instant conditioners (if you are considering it to be the watery, thin kind) are the cheap V-05 Strawberries and Cream! I rarely use instant conditioners outside of pre-pooing and co-washing. If you have access to Sally's or Ion Products, I highly recommend the Ion Extreme Moisture Cream or Ion Extreme Cleansing Conditioner.

Fave Leave-Ins: Alterna Caviar Photo Age Defense (helps rebuild hair by patching up gaps and tears in the hair), Alterna Caviar Texture cream (great for moisture), ApHogee Green Tea Keratin Reconstructor (great for a light protein boost!)

    1. We don't have a Sally's and I am not sure I have seen Ion products, will keep a look out for them.
I am really getting intrigued with the Alterna Caviar line, I will have to shop around on amazon. I am not too familiar with mix and matching of leave ins, I think this is an area I really need to experiment more.

  2. I don't really use instant conditioners but I use Dove to pre-poo sometimes, my fav leave-in is Matrix hair tonic.

    1. I have tried the Dove con as a pre poo once and really liked it. I have seen Matrix products but never tried them, is the leave in more protein based?

  3. I have too many Curl Junkie conditioners to name. But, I love them all and they are so versatile, deep conditioning, rinse out, or leave in.

Umm I have way to many conditioners in my stash to name. But, for cheapie conditioners I use Trader Joe's Tea Tree Tingle or Nourish Spa. The both are like $4 bucks and under and they are the BOMB.

  4. Lol I like how you can't even start mentioning which products you have, a sense a serious product junkie! But you are right our hair needs different products at different times! I have been trying to curb the PJ in me, hence I started reviewing my product, only issue now is when you write about a product you use I want it too. Especially if they are $4 a bottle!!!! :)
