25 weeks | oh so simple styles

Here are a few styles that have kept me going through to my 6 month post relaxer mark. This was the look I had for ‘dinner with the girls’

 

This was my attempt for a ponytail, but my hair is too short for such. So, I twisted up the front and managed to fit the rest into an incredible small ponytail.

I have been doing a lot of twist outs, which I feel look great in person, but as soon as my twisted out hair sees a camera....yikes….. it's far from cute lol.

I can now see more and more of my new growth, but a clear division still fails me, I wonder how the ‘big chop’ will work out.

Week 23 Post | Texture Shots

As my hair continues to grow, I can now finally see the difference between my tex-laxed hair and my new growth.

It has taken me up to 5 months post relaxer to see the difference.

The back of my head has a tight kinky texture

The crown has a more defined zig-zag pattern

The sides and the front of my hair also has a kink but much looser than then back of my head

Transition| Week 0-21 Post

This week has marked the start of my 5^th month (21 weeks) into my transition. Having been able to stretch my relaxer up to 23 weeks, this is really just as good as stretching my relaxer.

I have not really been experimenting a great deal with my hair at all. It is currently at a very weird length, and I cannot do much with it except twist outs. Everything else requires lots of gel and hair pins.

At this stage as my tex-lax hair is very 'under-processed'; I cannot tell how much new growth I have, it almost feels like am at 9-12 weeks post relaxer.

I am currently using 3 products on my hair, 2 products from Lush, a honey shampoo bar 'Honey I washed my hair' and a Hair moisturiser 'R&B Moisturiser' which I got in Paris, however, these are also stocked in London. This has been the most expensive natural based moisturiser I have got, and I really hope my hair loves me for it.

My all time favourite conditioner removes the same ORS Replenshing Conditioner, and ORS HaiRepair Conditioner.

The plan for the next 20 weeks, is it get a professional haircut, currently, my hair is here, there, everywhere, with my DIY attempts are cutting it a few weeks ago.

I find I have stray hairs in all directions that I am constantly cutting off my hair almost every fortnight. So, I  am currently on operation 'find a stylist in London' or long term proactive style my hair.

Wash Day | Simple Wash Day

My wash days have become predictable and very standard.

I currently do weekly washes.

[1] mix ORS conditioner with Tresemme conditioner and sweet almond oil

[2] Apply to dry hair and detangle

[3] Using a metallic cap for 15 mins 

[4] Wash off my hair with more attention to my scalp

[5] Towel/ tshirt dry hair for a while then twist it and add Aunt Jackie's Curl la la.

Hair Update | 16 Weeks post

I have been MIA lately, about a month again I decided I would transition to natural.

My main reason was due to the frustration when I had major hair breakage in the middle of my head. I opted to removed all the bone straight relaxed hair and just keep it fully texlaxed.

I then opted at the end of that week that I would just transition to natural.

My hair regimen had been fairly simple

1. Weekly DC on dry hair
2. Detangle with wide tooth comb
3. No shampoo (so far)
4. Twist out daily using water and Auntie Jackie's Curl la la defining custard.

.....and that is it.

My hair has been fairly moisturised because of daily use of water and Auntie Jackie's Curl la la defining Custard.

My new growth is slowly coming through.

I have kept detangling only on wash days, to avoid tearing at strands.

I am very excited and wonder how my natural hair will be like.

My plan is to transition for 1 year, as long as my hair is as long as it is now then I can keep my twist out styles going.
