A decent steamer will set me back £100 ($150) and a hooded dryer
would be £70 ($130)
The benefits of using heat for the penetration of conditioners and
pre poo oils gives your hair amazing benefits.
Its technique Thursday, any great tips, join the linkup hosted by
Divayck of Relaxed Thairapy every Thursday.
Therefore for the time being, this is what I have been doing.
1.
Regular plastic bag, can use a shower cap or
cling film
2.
Heat a damp face towel in the microwave for
40sec to 1 min (Keep your eye on the microwave)
3.
Add on a metallic heat cap
4.
Finish off with another shower cap, the one am
using is a double layered plastic and cloth one, so it traps in the heat. You
can also use a towel or woollen hat to trap in the heat
After 15 mins I heat up the face towel again. For the time being
this has saved me a lot of money and space, but has made my hair extremely
happy in the meantime.
You can also buy heated shower caps, heated turban etc., this
tools are less expensive than a full steamer and work really well.
What methods do you use to get heat during your wash day?

Thanks for the tips. I will have to use this one. Too bad don't have a metallic cap right now.
ReplyDeleteHehe, definitely get a metallic cap :D hehe
DeleteGreat idea, I am now on the hunt for a metallic cap, lol!
ReplyDeleteHe he definitely go on the hunt for one
DeleteI haven't done this in a while but I do the same steps as you do, but sit under my heat cap. You just saved alot of people money as well. Great tip.
ReplyDeleteI have always wanted a steam and hooded dry, for the meantime I think this will do the trick!
DeleteThank you for linking up with meeee!!! :0) I have a steamer and love it. However, I've done steam treatments much like you're explaining and they truly work. I recommend it to anyone that is not interested in purchasing a steamer immediately. Excellent post.

It really does make a difference, when I tried it out last wash day I remembered reading it someone but thought my metallic cap without heat would do the trick but using the heat really does make a huge difference. I need to read up on your last posts explaining this. Thanks for host divachyk
DeleteGreat money-saving post. I have a Secura steamer which i heart very much. But i do this method for my overnight pre-poo and GHE -> saran wrap/2-3 plastic bags/showercap/scarf/beanie. I wish I could post the look on hubby's face when I get into bed..lets just say no nookie for me on Friday nights...
ReplyDeletelol the men in our lives put up with so much! Hehe your comment cracked me up! I can just imagine the face haha!
DeleteVery good technique. I don't have a steamer so I use a similar method when I feel like my hair needs something more than just a plastic cap. You're right, it really does work
ReplyDeleteThe heat caps are wonderful when I don't have time to sit under my hooded dryer. I would love to invest in a steamer but until then heated caps and my hooded dryer are perfectly fine.
