Hair | New style - Braids are out

Goodbye braids. As I was removing my braids over the weekend, I was so disappointed to see the major breakage in the middle section of my hair.

This has been mostly due to poor hair styling during my wedding period. The salons I was using knew nothing of good hair care and yes, I could have stopped them, so I do take the blame fully.

As you can see the difference between my undamaged hair and damaged hair.

So I detangled my hair and grabbed hold of the scissors

Am fully texlaxed, and 11 weeks post telaxer. My touch up is suppose to be next week, but...... I will try transition.....

However, am not holding myself ransom should I decide to change my mind.

Happy Hair Journeys Ladies! :o)

  1. Your hair looks gorgeous Yvonne! It's a shame about the damage but it happens. When I got my hair braided up a couple of weeks ago the stylist handled my hair like she was angry at it. I had to stand up at one point and tell her to stop but I mostly let her get away with ripping my hair out which I'm ashamed to say *covers face*. I may have to do a similar type chop, yours looks so awesome x

    1. Oh, I don't know why we do this with stylists, at least you got up! Hope you didn't get any damage.

For now am really liking the cut :) so I guess it all worked out.

  2. Your hair still looks great though! I live in fear of other people braiding my hair but until I learn how to do it on myself I'm at their mercy (but yes I do plan to learn!) Good luck with the transitioning-or not. Your hair looks lovely either way! :)

    1. Oh how I wish I knew how to braid my own hair and style it too!! We are at the mercy of the stylists.

Thanks for all the well wishes! Hoping it goes smoothly!

  3. My mouth just dropped open! Some people just shouldn't be stylists. But you have an amazing attitude about it!

Adios bone straight ends hello texlaxed (or transitioning) glory! I bet that your hair would look fantastic in a twist out!

  4. I think it's beautiful!
I'm not clear on the "transition" mention though... transitioning to natural you mean?

    1. Lol, thought I would try seeing how natural hair would be, so will be attempting a transition!

  5. Sorry to hear about your setback but luckily the new look suits you.

The thing is most stylists don't consider the length of your hair when dipping the tips of the Kanekelon hair in hot water. I've suffered a similar setback too because of that. Perhaps Marley extensions are a better option for people with longer hair since they don't need to be dipped. Just saying, just in case you'd like to braid again when you're fully natural.

    1. Thanks for your tips, I have been thinking about marley braids for a while. My breakage was due to blow drying, flat ironing with tongs.

Can't wait to see how this journey goes!

  6. The final cut suits your face. Congrats on being fully texlaxed . Its a shame how rough these stylist are in this twentieth century when there is so much knowledge around. Aww man, i've lost another relaxed sista but its okay, i'm routing for you regardless of your decision.
